The film was far superior to its Broadway counterpart;
a problematic second act that left Barbra carrying most of it musically. As one critic pointed out “diminished returns”.
It actually got a strange set of reviews raving Streisand, but less than enthusiastic about the show. From the Press displays of critics’ quotes you’d think it got raves from all. Clever press manipulation. Don’t look for a revival soon. Streisand nailed it, and unlike “Gypsy” this show’s legs aren’t that strong.
I had the privilege of playing in the show choir and lead jazz bands with her at this time and she was as remarkable as the videos of he portrait. I wish that someone would post the talent show video of her from this year at which she sang “I Will Always Love You” (being of the “Bodyguard” era – Bobby!?!) That little theater you see here held about 800 people and she had at least 600 in tears with goosebumps; full standing o! We all knew that night… Thanks H!
This is INCREDIBLE! I would’ve given her a standing ovation after that performance of “People”!
shes awesome for a high school student!!!
sounds so wonderful here. this footage is remarkably rare isnt it? how did you even get it?
she’s pretty good with the role, i like how she’s different from barbra. they need to revive this on broadway so there can finally be a new portrayl other than streisand’s.
Great idea. Compare Barbra’s film version with a high school junior. I’ll bet “Barbra” can’t sing as well as “Barbara,” either.
When you’re done in your backyard, come back to rational thought.
When I compare it to Barbra Streisand…..first I puke in my backyard….then I return to m computer and weep and type this comment.
It opened in November of 1997
Wow, what a voice.
she must have done lion king not too long after this huh?? didnt it open in ‘93?
What a star!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You can also see her in her H.S. Show Choir. Look up Northrop Charisma 1991.
A shining talent already. A real privilege to see this.
thats so true!!! heather is very underrated
that how a stars shines from the inside out at an early age
I still think she doesn’t get enough credit as she deserves. This just shows her talent is pure, not all that fake talent we see in mainstream these days.
She was star even then! This video gives me hope as a young performer!
My mouth dropped open the second I saw this!!!! I am from Fort Wayne and take so much pride that a talent like her came from here, but to see her perform in a high school production of a neighboring school!!! OMG!!!
A MILLION THANKS!!!!!!
Wow! Can we be greedy and ask for more?
wow.
this is one of the rarest things ive seen. ever.
You should have known her then. She is remarkable even now, but when she was in high school, she used to listen to audio and learn the songs from tape. On top of that, she was just a great person.
OK…just WOW.
WOW.
An amazing performance.
What a random video…this is totally interesting!!
